A picture is worth a thousand mockeries

19 Feb

Dear Future Hubby,

I am very much a traditionalist when it comes to weddings.  I’m that type of girl that likes romantic weddings. Clean, simple, elegant, beautiful. Wrap it up in some Tiffany wrapping paper, put a bow on it, and call it a day. I have nothing against people who do their own things with their wedding by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, I encourage it. I just so happen to be the type of person that goes the more traditional route.

Seriously, is he trying to strangle her?

When I think of a traditional wedding though, there of course has to be Save the Date cards.  Ours will be amazing, no doubt. Recently, I’ve been getting Save the Date cards with people’s engagement photos on them. Some rock and are off beat, like BowieBride’s, while others just have your typical engagement photo. Here’s the thing about engagement photos though. I honestly think they look really awkward and staged.

When we do engagement photos, we’re going to take some good pictures. Ones that I would be proud to put on our Save the Date, if that is the route we choose to go.  There are going to be fun, quirky, and at the end of the day, NOT traditional.  Sure, we can take some traditional ones so we’ll have something to put on the mantel one day, but I swear to god, if the photographer makes us do a cheesy 1988 prom pose or look like we just hopped in a minivan and went down to Sears for our engagement photos, I may loose my shit.

I kind of want to avoid the whole picture Save the Date if we can, to be honest. I’ve always loved clean and simple.  Something that is classic

If we are going to do a photo Save the Date, it'd be something like this. Classy, elegant, and not overly staged.

and reflective of that fact that I will force you we will have a classic wedding. I know there are ways to combine both and if we can agree on one of those, great. But there is no way in hell we’re putting a piggy back ride picture on our Save the Date. That shit goes on people’s fridge.  How awkward would it be if someone was reaching in for the milk and had to see that every day? If I had to see if every day, I’d start mocking it, which means if I would do that, I’m sure others would start mercilessly mocking as well.   Major Save the Date fail right

there.

Let’s avoid this at all costs, please.

Sears must have been busy, so they have to moved Snugglefest 2010 to outside.

Xo,

Your future wife
